Adam’s Purpose

Adam’s Purpose is dedicated to providing help, hope, and healing to communities of color who are impacted by grief, loss, and trauma. Their mission is to normalize grief recovery by increasing awareness, offering grief education, and expanding access to culturally competent support services.

With support from Caring for Denver, Adam’s Purpose delivers mental health resources for bereaved mothers of color, educates communities on healthy coping strategies for grief and mourning, and works to break the stigma surrounding mental health.

Impact Highlights

Adam’s Purpose reached 510 Denver residents with Caring for Denver funding during the last grant cycle. Among participants who provided feedback, 99% reported stronger connections to help and support, 97% reduced stigma around discussing or seeking support for their mental health, and 100% gained skills or awareness for addressing mental health and substance misuse. Through the grant, some mothers were supported in accessing individual therapy in addition to participating in the peer groups. 100% of women who engaged in individual therapy demonstrated improved mental health.

While their primary focus was supporting bereaved mothers of color, Adam’s Purpose gradually saw increased involvement from family members, including fathers and siblings of the deceased child. This shift allowed them to expand their approach, ensuring more comprehensive and holistic grief support.
