Caring for Denver Receives Outstanding Foundation Award

[November 29, 2022 – Denver, Colo.]: Caring for Denver Foundation has received the Outstanding Foundation Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Colorado Chapter, an honor recognizing an organization that has demonstrated outstanding commitment to making an impact in philanthropy and community involvement.

“As a newer foundation, we have had the unique opportunity to integrate community voices in everything we do from the start,” said Meinhold. “We are so grateful to the people of Denver for creating and funding our work to make healing and recovery possible.”

Caring for Denver was nominated by Janet Lopez, Senior Director of Policy, Partnerships, & Learning at the Denver Foundation, with support from the HadaNõu Collective and Latino Coalition for Community Leadership. Their nomination highlighted Caring for Denver’s work to build community trust and relationships and its demonstrated impact on improving mental health and recovery in the City and County of Denver, including its funding of Denver’s STAR program

The award was presented to executive director Lorez Meinhold at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 10.

About Lorez Meinhold

Lorez Meinhold serves as the Executive Director of Caring for Denver Foundation. She brings over twenty years of implementation and policy experience as a director of multilateral initiatives involving the public, private, and civic sectors, working at the local, state, and national levels. Lorez has worked in many capacities integrating health programs addressing mental health and substance misuse needs, connecting early childhood and health communities, delivery and payment system reforms, and efforts that required statewide stakeholder engagement.
